Welcome to the “return” of Marc Blake’s Blog with topics of interest for all. We all have a story. Taking time to tell that story is both consuming and rewarding. But… what for? There are benefits to writing and posting your ideas and stories, including providing information on helpful and educational value.

Knowledge is Power

That’s a bit strong, though more accurate than not. My articles are provided with overtones that contain a hidden agenda to gain power. Although, that might be a nice underlying theme for one of my screenplays. There is so much discovery in [my] world of creative endeavor. I’m surrounded by a vast art community comprised of many with truly amazing talent. It rubs off in the form of creative inspiration. It’s both motivating and driving, peppered with a dash of captivating and thriving to produce new things – all the time.

Art and Money

In my situation, creating things, “projects” I call them, is something I’m doing all the time. Seriously!!! ALL THE TIME. I have ideas come to me like sunrays and there are no UV filters to keep them at bay. That’s me and living with that mindset for decades upon decades is almost something I’ve grown accustomed to. So, art and money! I have no “sugar daddy” in my life and that means it’s completely up to me to generate income from the ideas that strike me in this creative battle called thought.

Those that know me also know that I am all over the place with the products and services I make myself available for in terms of helping artists and others with their business endeavors.

I Invented the Internet

No, I didn’t invent the Internet, but I was amongst the first in Central California (Bakersfield to Sacramento) to drink from that firehose filled with opportunity and build my knowledge into a powerful business. Here I am, today, on what would have been my Mother’s 99th birthday with my 32 years of being the longest-lasting – and still in existence – Internet company in the Valley. I actually brought the Internet to the City of Fresno when I presented it to their City Council back in the day. RESULTS: Fresno is online.

Hoist the Sails

I’m excited to dedicate some time to writing about the projects I’m working on. I’ll talk about process and technique now and again as well. No worries. My fingerprints are in a folder in that department in Sacramento that allows me to step onto campus and educate. Okay, let’s take a little break, then get started!

Portrait Photography: Setting the Mood

Portrait Photography: Setting the Mood

Portrait Photography: Setting the Mood A portrait photo shoot may seem like it should be simple, but there’s more to it than pointing your camera at your subject and taking the picture. A good portrait photograph should capture the essence of your subject in an...

Before and After

Before and After

An interesting technique is hand-tinting a photograph. I am an avid Photoshop user. It's safe to say all my work goes through lots of post-production effort. I've always wanted to be a painter. "This," is as close as I expect to get; Photoshop editing. Use the slider...

That’s What Friends are For

That’s What Friends are For

Music is truly a universal language. Musicians are those types of people that find it to be very important to spend their valuable time delivering music to others. I wonder how many musicians were once "the milkman" or "the paperboy or papergirl" or perhaps prophets;...

Portrait Moments

Portrait Moments

In a few days, I'll be explaining that moment in time while working with models, a moment when the magic capture becomes evident. Often a portrait photographer will take a great number of images. After, a study of each image yields the "selects" (cream of the crop)....
